Housing Affordability in Va. Beach

New Housing Affordability Charts shows many areas of Virginia Beach on the low end of Housing Cost.  Traditionally, housing is considered affordable when your housing cost are less than 30% of your gross monthly income.  Many areas of  Va. Beach fall well within this affordability index range. Factor in transportation cost to get a good picture of your overall cost of living  There are some great areas within blocks of the beach that that have both low housing and transportation affordability index’s. We have some good public transportation options within reach of the Beach Resort Area.  One can live at the ocean front and have easy public transportation access to major shopping at the Hilltop Shopping area, as well as Express Bus service to downtown Norfolk, Norfolk Naval Base, Tidewater Community College and LYNNHAVEN Shopping Mall.  Factor in the accessibility and high usage of beach biking, and you could live at the beach and be environmentally friendly at the same time.  Beach biking is popular with the locals and a great way to get around  to your favorite restaurants and music venues in spring, summer and fall.
