Explore Virginia’s Eastern Shore – Kayak for Clams – Wine – Solitude

Virginia’s Eastern shore is such a laid back treasure. With the Chesapeake Bay on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the eastern side … there are thousands of miles of shoreline to explore. From Clam Farms in Oyster, Va. to digging for natural Bay Clams yourself … exploring by kayak is the slow way .. to slow food and wine!

The Eastern Shore is also home to 2 great wineries, Chatham Vineyards on Church Creek and Bloxom Winery … little known but a definitely worth the stop, if your driving up Rt 13, or taking the slow route via kayak along the shore. Chatham is accessible by kayak … For info on Kayak tours check out Southeast Expeditions “Paddle Your Glass Off” tours.

The Eastern Shore beach line along the Chesapeake Bay is still in pristine wilderness state in many areas … just like Capt. John Smith saw when first traveweling north in  the Chesapeake Bay.  So take some time to explore this treasure and dig for clams …. bird watch or just take in the solitude and unbelievable sunsets over the Chesapeake Bay.
